We look for new
Directions,
But for our guidance,
We cling to all the
Signposts
That led us only
Here.
If those were
Accurate,
Here would be
Where we were
Meant to be,
Meant also
To remain.
Nor would we need
A better place
To go.
The errors of the past
Live on in us,
Are in us multiplied,
Because
we value
Their inheritance
More than our
Responsibility
To reassess
Their origins,
Intention,
Consequence
And rationality.
