The Women’s Cultural Arena is hosting a free film screening of Sorry We Missed You (2019) in celebration of International Women’s Day2025, on 8th March at Eden Library, High Wycombe. Directed by Ken Loach, the film critically examines the gig economy’s harmful impact on working-class families, particularly women. Through the experiences of Abbie, a care worker, and her husband Ricky, the film highlights the economic insecurity, mental health struggles, and family disruption caused by unstable jobs. The event provides an important opportunity for men and women from the High Wycombe area to engage in meaningful conversations about gender inequality, economic hardship, and the challenges of balancing work and family. Following the screening, an open discussion will allow attendees to reflect on these issues, fostering a shared dialogue. Refreshments will be provided, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all participants. This event serves not only to commemorate International Women’s Day but also to center womenβs voices in addressing urgent social and economic challenges.
