Chapter Sixteen  – Sounds good.

The Feather and Scribes music bar was filling up nicely when J took to the newly refurbished stage ,this was his 6th gig in the funky venue and he was starting to become a regular ,with a slot each Thursday evening.

‘Good evening ladies and gentlemen’
My name is JMD-Day ,my real name of course John ,but don’t let that put you off ‘J announced ,this always broke the ice with the audience who were looking for good old rock ‘n’ roll escapism.

Rudi and DR C had arrived relatively early and had  prime seats to the left of the stage .
Rudi was getting admiring glances and was in demand for autographs from the savvy crowd who knew a star from the industry when they saw one.
J had finished his first set of acoustic punk melodies and got a warm round of applause from the knowing crowd about 150 maybe and headed to the bar for a deserved refreshment of bamboo smoothie girlie Joanne style.
Boy how life was looking up for him ,music ,friends ,girlfriend, a doctor with empathy ,who was in deep conversation with a fine looking  young man .
‘Hi J ,brilliant set so far ‘DR C offered raising his bottle of Dom Perignon in salute.
‘Thank Doc ,just warming up, going to   do a few Iced Screams numbers in next set ,get them really buzzing ‘
‘J let me introduce you to Rudi ,an all-round top geezer and music mogul
‘Doc announced now worse for wear.

‘J a brilliant set so far ,I am loving this  music it’s in my blood man ‘Rudi empathically declare whilst giving J a big man hug.
‘No problem, Rudi ,just doing my job ,hope you enjoy the next blast of jangle pop. ‘J offered in response and felt like a moment had passed between Rudi and himself.
The second set was equally brilliant, J or  aka JMD-Day ,unleashed 4 numbers from the Iced Screams back catalogue, when Rudi got up and came towards him during the encore.

Chapter Seventeen – D Day for J

‘All’s well that ends well’ that’s what J said to Joanne as they tied the knot at the new refurbished registrar quarters in the south part of the town.
‘A penny for your thoughts ‘Joanne replied with a big smile.
‘2 years ago ,I was a nobody ,just a number ,a shadow ,a blight on the acrid stenching  horizon ‘J reflected.
‘Then, I meet you my dear, I kept hoping this day would happen’ he added with a sigh of relief.
‘Come on hubby ,we are off to the celebrations at J and P’S, Cafe’ Joanne announced with another beaming smile.
The ceremony went well all arranged  by  best man Rudi and his grandad Mr.P ,who were now inseparable, the rock ‘n’ roll grandson, who became the prodigal son ,visited his family roots and rejoiced.
Rudi’s mum Nadua and love for music were entrenched in this curious but essential area known as HP11, and all the streets secrets.
Rudi invested vast amounts of money into the area ,set up the cafe (brin ging it into the modern era),opened a state of the art recording studio, which was known as ‘Five pounds in the bin’.
J became an advisor ,creator, director and critic of all thing of sound and beauty. Joanne was promoted to promoter, merchandiser and recording engineer (with occasional help from DR C)
On the wall in his directors office were 2 framed vinyl records by the Iced Screams…
Some memories never fade …..

The end.

Notes:

‘The Open Team Talk’ sessions gilded the subject matters for each chapter which tries to capture the essence of civilization of HP11 postcode and beyond.
