Second episode : Convinced

I knew he was the most desirable one, the wife would adore him. Of all the strays and waifs I sifted through with glorious examination, this one had a great look about him. A lovely black felt hat, farmer boy style, with straw coloured hair straggling out, a somewhat lived in face, chipped away somewhat from years of wear and tear , although it showed traces of varnish being applied at some prehistoric time. The nose was slightly crooked, a bit like Mr Ken’s. I allowed myself a chuckle.

The mouth had a crooked grin with crimson red lips, but it was the eyes that fascinated me, dark brown slightly sunken back, almost human like, deep unnerving . He had lovely eyebrows which were a darker shade.

He was dressed in a ghastly patterned flower shirt , smart tie, beautifully crafted red waistcoat which looked new in comparison to the rest of his clobber.

The trousers were best described as clown loon pants , techno-coloured ballooning out just below the knees. His shoes were made of hardwood, blue in colour , worn away, on the soles there were Blakey’s. Tap dance style, carefully nailed into place. The framework that joined, looked  like ‘guitar strings’ not conventional cotton strings and they looked in penetrable and unbreakable.

In all he stood about 24 inches tall , when I manipulated him into place on the mosaic floor. His controls were made from the same material as the tap dancing shoes, hardwood , vanished, tough. They eyelets and screws holding various parts in functional positions appeared to be almost gold. I was stated out of my reverie by ‘Mr. Ken’  puffing away on another exotic looking cigar -‘You like you find good toy , very good bargain. You can buy for 20 Dollars , very big bargain .

‘   Mr. Ken did not need to convince me, but his instinct was charming and enthusiastic.’ I will take him’, I said excitedly surprising myself with the ferocity  of my voice and desire . ‘Very good Sir, what else might you buy? he pitched in again. ‘My wife loves handbags, gloves, scarves – you know women stuff’, I tried to level with Mr. Ken. After another expedition around this cosmic ‘Aladdin’s cave’ I had 2 leather handbags beautifully made in Egypt  Mr. Ken enthused, one pair of medium sized black leather gloves ,winter was coming , the wife did not like ‘cold hands’, also several scarves made from beautiful materials and artistic designs , the origin was not discovered.

Mr. Ken charged me 42 dollars , I packed everything into a tote bag for transport purposes, and said my thanks and farewells. ‘Good bye Sir , please call again anytime , anytime good bargains. Make sure you look after stringed toy puppet ..’ was his final salvo.
