Part Three: WISPA IN THE BARN AND A LAST GOODBYE

“Her name be Wispa, a bundle of fun she is” as Bertie embellished his sales pitch .She in the barn, come and meet her, me dears, come inside. The barn was dilapidated, and partly covered by overgrow berries and shrubs and rose’s of numerous varieties, all looked as if they did seriously belong here on the west and south side of the barn. Inside the barn were every type of tools and gadgets, every vendor would sell instantly on a Saturday morning in Greenmead car boot sale

“Wispa… Wispa, where are yours me darling “Bertie beckoned in the direction of an old fashion looking combine harvester.
“Ah ..ah ,there she is”, Bertie informed the fascinated Jenkinson girls.Wispa dutifully  purred over towards to the old man, and did a fantastic victory roll for her master.
“She’s 7 years young, lived here all her life ,me thinks”, Bertie historically added.”Her hair is as black as yours young lady trouble is hers will go grey longer before yours girl “Bertie jubilantly explained in another sing-along voice.

“Trouble is her and the dog are inseparable” ,Bertie hopefully added.”No problem Sir.  We will gladly take this fluffy friend as well”, Margot triumphantly confirmed. She knew the pets would help her daughter build up her confidence and give her a focus in life, which she had been bravely trying to achieved ,since her father had passed away.

“Oh ! I am so pleased me dears, I can now go to my next destination, with me head held high” Bertie smiled ,wiping a tear away from his ancient and fiercely proud eyes.

Coby and Wispa were fussed  over for the last time by the old man. “Do you think Bertie will be OK mum, he looks so sad “Sahrah mournfully observed. “Oh yes, he is a wise old owl ,I should imagine he has had many other moments of sadness, and strongly dealt with them “Margot guessed.

Coby let out a series of barking styles and pounded around the old farmer, as they said their goodbyes. Bertie waved the 4×4 through the rusty old gates. “A full up Chelsea tractor “he laughed to himself without a hint of irony. “Here miss ,Give old  Bertie a hand to close this here old gate” he teased.

Sahrah skipped over to assist, as Bertie unknowing to her,  had indeed closed the chapter on this life  at the time he put the latch down. “Now listen miss, don’t let him lose the damn football, and remember the cat gets jealous of the old dog” No problem ,sir I will promise to look out for them”, she confidently added. “Now take this here envelope and keep it safe ,until you might need it” Bertie put his full sing-along voice to an air of authority.

“Ere…Ok Bertie, you can rely on me” she offered less confidently. “And don’t tell your mum about the envelope” he added “OK.. OK..,Bertie “Sahrah promised as she turn around to wave goodbye, Bertie was already gone.
