Embracing Christmas @ Wycombe Sound on 14th December 2017.
This action packed show was pre-recorded earlier in the day with good reasons : Christmas late night shopping , traffic , logistic, bad weather being some of the ingredients .
The late great George Micheal (Wham !!) with Last Christmas started the show off, setting a warm nostalgic glow, tingling with seasonal anticipation.
Shanthi now growing into the role of presenter directed us nicely through the show , with some excellent signposting courtesy of Pippa !!
Depeche Mode’s Personal Jesus was embraced by Anne leaving the listening in no doubt of the true essential message of Christmas.
Veronica’s brilliant poetry fitted seamlessly into the theme , personal touches, also great traditional works such as John Betjemann.
Aruntha mastery of art was beautifully encapsulated again with her own work and enlightenment of classic art ; ‘Dream of Joseph ‘
Steely Dan’s Bodisathva was deconstructed brilliantly by Shanthi encrypting the Buddhist philosophy behind the lyrics.
Kamalesiny once again gave us culinary delights, tasty, original and spicy in her native language , translated by Devi. WOW factor was there !!!
Hindu Tiimes by Oasis had a great lyric of divine intervention ‘Get so High ‘ that I just can’t feel it ‘ has a great festive connotation running through it.
The Pogues ‘ Fairytale of New York’ , a festive favourite poignantly captures the hope , joy, despair , longing inevitability of immigration and all its discourses.
Devi beautifully and articulately translated and wished a merry Christmas to all , whist happily announcing next month’s programme in January 2018.
It was left to John Lennon to see the show out with the message for Christmas and beyond ‘Give Peace a Chance ‘
Here here to that , Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year !!!
